“It was a proper send off, culminating with CP delivering his elegy for Conrad. It was poignant, lovely in a way and somehow hard to get your mind around even though you saw it coming. It felt, I suppose, like a loss. When he was through, the man closed by saying, “Conrad Plymouth is dead. Long live Conrad Plymouth”. The end of an era to be sure. And while the promise...

from our German friends CLITSTLTBM
translated German review:
“EP-REVIEW: Conrad play Mouth, a singer-songwriter from the States with his self-titled debut last year, already published a very good record, but the on the European continent was largely ignored. Unfairly, as well as his new EP ‘Comrade Plymouth’ proves impressively.
According to some sources, these are songs that have to not make it on their debut...

Lust Bowl
almost any second (almost any second now!)
at this very moment the brass token of my yen edges
all the rest closer in the tumbledown penny arcade
its intoxicating
how your cigaret smells foreign in the open air
the way livestock smells like a love affair and
the stockyard feels like a promenade
i’ve got to leave before I love too much.

Sometimes they appear; other times you can feel them, for days, weeks, months, like a sliver that you have to trust your body to work to the surface that got jammed in deep.
Or a piece of metal from an old sofa that you don’t want to pay to have picked up so you just bash it with a hammer, and either a bit of the frame or a bit of the hammer breaks off, and you have hot shrapnel in your...

We got to play this song in Minnesota for the first time last weekend. Thanks to Kyle Matteson for the support, invitation, video and solidarity. Also got to see Zoo Animal (incredible energy, fantastic songs) and old pals in new band Wishbook. Look for shared dates in the future.
Then Travis and I did an in-store at Strictly Discs in Madison. Mindblowingly cool.

Mr. Mark Eitzel and the Gift that Gives
It was probably 2003 and I was late to the game. I’ve never been an early adopter and never will be. The wonderful Minneapolis band Halloween, Alaska had just played Eau Claire, WI, where I was living. My dear friend Josh Scott and I were rehashing the show, and he said that the singer, James Diers, had mentioned to him that American Music Club were a strong influence on both H.A.’s...
